Rites and Bites of the Roundtable Tackle Climate Change

In honor of the Earth, students of Walgrove's Rites and Bites of the Roundtable, which is Walgrove's GATE and GATE-Curious cohort, placed sticks, leaves and grasses onto a loom and drew chalk outlines of endangered flora and fauna.

Noggin-to-Go

This week's Noggin-to-Go real-world problem to solve:

Cogitate on the experience of solving a maze juxtaposed to the experience of completing several mathematical patterns. Then write an answer to the following reflection question: Which activity was more fun for you to do and why? Email your answer to andrea.kittelson1@lausd.net

How are cogitation and reflection 'real world problems to solve'? Well, the giant snarl of your own brain is the most important snarl of all to untangle, because once you figure out your own process, you will be able to fully utilize your process and skills for the benefit of humankind.

Today's math patterns activity came from this book:

Here is the maze:

Noggin-to-Go

This week's Noggin-to-Go real-world problem to solve:

Come up with at least FIVE ways that we might use the large asphalt yard that takes up approximately 1/3 of the Walgrove Elementary School campus.

STRATEGY: Make a list of a dozen or so ways, and then whittle that list down to the five that seem the most possible.

Feel free to express your ideas in either writing OR another creative medium. Submit your writing or video to andrea.kittelson1@lausd.net.

Also, share the Rites and Bites of the Round Table Scavenger Hunt #1 we did during lunch with your family and explain the rationale used for the choices you made.

Finally, use the word ubiquitous many times, in context, over the weekend (and many more times throughout your life).

Have a great weekend, Walgrove!
